Famous for Pinot Noir, planted by a few pioneers- David Lett (Eyrie Vineyards in the 1960s), the Campbell Family of Elk Cove, Susan and Bill Sokol Blosser of Sokol Blosser and David and Ginny Adelsheim (Adelsheim) for a total of 10 founding families that began to produce in the 1970s. Ov
er the past few decades many famous California and French winemakers joined in the fun and excitement of the region- Tony Soter (Spottswoode, Etude, Shafer and Chappellet fame), Lynn Penner-Ash (Penner Ash) and the Drouhin Family from Burgundy, among others.
Other grapes
of note are Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, and Pinot Gris, with a bit of Riesling here and there. The style, with its cool climate, is clean and precise, with little to no oak. For Mother’s Day, for Spring and Summer Gatherings! Be sure to try some of the many Roses and Sparkling wines too!
